BARACK OBAMA

Barack Hussein Obama II was born in Honolulu, USA, August 4, 1961. He is the forty-fourth and current president of the United States of America. Obama was state senator in Illinois from January 3, 2005 until his resignation on November 16, 2008. It is also the fifth African American legislator in the Senate of the United States, third from the era of reconstruction. It was also the first African American candidate of the Democratic Party and is the first to exercise the presidency.

In the general election on November 4, 2008, became president-elect after defeating Republican presidential candidate John McCain and took up his duties as 44th president on January 20, 2009.

On 9 October of that year he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his diplomatic efforts on nuclear disarmament, the achievement of a peace process in the Middle East and promotion of the fight against climate change. On April 4, 2011 announced the beginning of his presidential reelection campaign in 2012.

Obama met his wife, Michelle Robinson, in June 1989. Robinson was assigned for three months as their counselor at the law firm, and in late summer the two began a courtship, became engaged in 1991 and married on October 3, 1992. The couple's first child was born in 1998 and she was given the name Malia Ann, then in 2001, their second daughter, Natasha was born.
